Stielhandgranate 24 Grenade Replica

NZ$149.00

A faithful recreation of WWII’s most recognisable grenade – handcrafted in New Zealand by Imperial Shell Works.

Fresh off the printer and mounted with care – this 1:1 scale replica of the German Stielhandgranate 24, or “potato masher,” is a striking tribute to one of the most iconic infantry weapons of the Second World War.

Adopted by German forces in 1924 and used throughout WWII, the Stielhandgranate 24 earned its distinctive nickname from its wooden handle, designed to increase throwing range and balance. Its instantly recognisable silhouette has since become a symbol of 20th-century military design.

Our full-scale replica captures every key detail — from the ergonomically curved handle to the smooth, cylindrical charge head. Each unit is 3D printed in high resolution, then hand-finished and mounted on a solid totara wood plinth, chosen for its rich tone and durability. The base is finished with our own natural wax and engraved with the Imperial Shell Works heritage mark, giving each piece an authentic, museum-quality presence.

Each display also includes a custom stencil reading “Vor Gebrauch Sprengkapsel einsetzen” (“Insert fuse before use”) — an accurate historical marking for personalising your case or display.

This isn’t just a replica – it’s a piece of living history, built to honour original engineering while showcasing modern craftsmanship. Whether displayed in a study, museum, or private collection, it’s certain to be a conversation piece and the highlight of any WWII display.

Plinth dimensions: approximately 360 mm long × 150 mm wide.
